Hi ✦
I’m Nick van Dorp, the founder and creative force behind Scuube.
I’ve been dedicated to helping brands, events and communities showcase their ideas in exciting and interactive ways.
Whether it’s detailed 3D models, interactive spaces, or bespoke design solutions, I focus on creating experiences that go beyond the visual.
My creations can not just be looked at, they can be explored, collected and deployed in a variety of digital environments.
My work is inspired by the belief that playing and exploring are at the heart of creativity.
In 2023 Nick founded Scuube, a design studio dedicated to imagining and building 3d virtual experiences.
The studio is specialized in themes like architectural design, 3d visualization, interaction and gamification.
Nick is active as a Spatial Designer at Mona, where he helps to bring the ideas and dreams of communities and
brands to life through modeling, building and programming immersive and lively virtual environments.
Before his venture into the virtual, Nick worked as a Junior Architect at architecture firms in the Netherlands;
namely ZJA and Syb van Breda architects. Here he assisted in designing, modeling and visualizing several infrastructural
projects like bridges and tunnels, as well as sports facilities and train stations.
In 2017 Nick got a masters degree in the Hyperbody studio in TU Delft faculty of architecture where his passion for
interactive and innovative building design could be pursued. Here he specialized in computational design, interactive architecture and robotic production.
Translating your ideas into a digital space can be tricky, especially when it comes to creating environments that are not only visually stunning but also interactive and immersive. That’s where I come in.
My goal is to make the complex simple for you. I handle the technical side—from 3D modeling to interactive web experiences—so you can focus on what matters most: your vision. Whether you’re looking to present architectural designs in a clear, engaging way, create a virtual event, or showcase your brand in the metaverse, I’ll provide solutions that are easy to understand and impactful for your audience.
When you work with me, you’re not just getting a digital asset—you’re getting a fully immersive experience that connects with your audience and elevates your brand. I’ll take care of the details so you can make a lasting impression in the virtual world.
NFTNYC showcased an unprecedented collection of over 2000 artworks in a virtual gallery. I designed, built and engineered this space to host all of this amazing artwork, resulting in a smooth and seamless experience for the visitors. The space facilitates 15 categories of art, each marked with a recognizable colorscheme, all connected by a central hub space.
Responsibilities: Ideation, Design, 3D modeling in Blender, Creating the experience in Unity
In a collaboration between Monaverse and Proof.xyz, I'm proud to introduce a pioneering
virtual community space for the Moonbirds community within the open metaverse.
By developing custom shaders and post-processing
effects, we achieved a unique visual style reminiscent of hand-drawn art, complete with clear outlines that enhance
the overall aesthetic appeal of the environment.
Responsibilities: Grey-Boxing the space, Modeling assets in Blender, Collaborating with 3D Artists, Achieving stylized look as described by client, In charge of Unity project
Anima is my vision for an architecture that combines tradition and futurism. It is inspired by traditional Korean temples,
with it's intricate wooden structure and roof tiles.
The structure is always in motion, as the roof seems to hover by moving its wings. Furthermore the design follows the princiles of Parametricism, with its curvilinear
and ever evolving silhouette.
Gateway Ensemble was the winning entry for the MONA 2022 Interact Challenge. It is a 3d puzzle game where the player solves complex spatial puzzles by
interacting with the space. As the world rotates, you get one step further to reaching a relic hidden in the tower...
The main inspiration for this space was the work of M.C. Escher.
I focused heavily on color, mood and a sense of scale, while going into great detail in designing the architectural elements...
