Studio R&D

A luminous world high in the sky.

Self-initiated and built for its own sake: Anima is where we test lighting, atmosphere and spatial sequencing before they reach client work.

From tradition to computation

Anima is a space that resembles both traditional and futuristic architecture at once. It sits high up in the sky, breathing more life into the metaverse; its roof spreads its wings and hovers over the structure, seemingly weightless.

The design followed a visit to South Korea — traditional temple architecture crossed with parametric design, sparked by the Zaha Hadid exhibition at Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul. On the platform, a pond, grass and traditional timber structures gather around a sleek parametric backbone that holds everything together.

Why we build for ourselves

R&D like this is how new techniques earn their way into commissions: tested in our own world first, shipped in yours after.

Promenade at night
Central pond surrounded by hovering structures
Structure and water
Traditional roof morphed into curvilinear forms
Light study
Atmosphere first

Curious what R&D could unlock for your brief?  We would love to hear your story.
